On Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. the Environmental Protection Commission (EPC) will hold a Public Hearing in accordance with Section 5 of the EPC Act to consider and adopt proposed amendments to EPC’s Waste Management Rule and EPC's Noise Pollution Rule.
Chapter 1-7: Waste Management Rule Amendments
Based on input received as a result of public workshops previously held on August 17, 2023 and on September 5, 2023, the proposed revisions to Chapter 1-7, Rules of the Environmental Protection Commission have been updated. The current draft version of Chapter 1-7 is available for review on the EPC’s website.
Chapter 1-7 includes prohibitions, allowances and requirements associated with the management and disposal of solid waste and the operation of various solid waste management facilities in Hillsborough County. The purpose of the proposed rule amendments is to clarify and provide greater specificity to rules associated with the management of solid waste and to update existing State rules adopted within Chapter 1-7.

Chapter 1-10: Noise Pollution Rule Amendments
Based on comments received, the proposed amendments to Chapter 1-10, Rules of the EPC have been updated. The current draft version of Chapter 1-10 is available for review on the EPC’s website and at the link below.
Chapter 1-10 specifies regulations regarding the permitted levels for environmental sounds from various commercial and industrial sources. EPC enforces Chapter 1-10 throughout Hillsborough County with concurrent jurisdiction alongside other government agencies that enforce county or municipality ordinances related to noise. The purpose of the proposed rule revisions to Chapter 1-10 is to update definitions and to clarify various sources and activities that are exempt from the sound level limits.
