On Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. the Environmental Protection Commission (EPC) will hold a public hearing in accordance with Section 5 of the EPC Act to consider and adopt proposed amendments to EPC’s Noise Pollution Rule, Chapter 1-10, Rules of the EPC.
Chapter 1-10 specifies regulations regarding the permitted levels for environmental sounds from various commercial and industrial sources. EPC enforces Chapter 1-10 throughout Hillsborough County with concurrent jurisdiction alongside other government agencies that enforce county or municipality ordinances related to noise. The main purpose of the proposed rule revisions to Section 1-10.04(14) is to codify existing and proposed areas where the EPC exempts noise originating from music and other entertainment located in limited areas within the City of Tampa. The Commission has ultimate legislative authority to determine the final boundaries of the proposed maps and other rule language.
Please submit comments on the proposed amendments to epcinfo@epchc.org by October 10, 2023.
The Commission meeting will be held in the BOCC Boardroom, County Center, 2nd Floor, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa. If you wish to provide public comment at the meeting, please submit the online public comment form before 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
