On Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. (or shortly thereafter) the Environmental Protection Commission (EPC) will hold a public hearing in accordance with Section 1-2.71, Rules of the EPC to consider and adopt proposed amendments to the “Basis of Review for Authorization of Activities Pursuant to Chapter 1-11 – Wetlands” (BOR).
Revisions are primarily proposed to Chapter V which deals with the Miscellaneous Activities in Wetlands (MAIW) permitting program. MAIWs are wetland permits for development which are of nominal consequence to the wetland and do not require a reasonable use analysis or mitigation. The majority of the proposals clarify MAIW permitting criteria regarding shoreline stabilization and exemptions. Additional revisions are proposed to Chapter III of the BOR to bring clarification to the consideration of cumulative impacts.
The Commission meeting will be held in the BOCC Boardroom County Center, 2nd Floor, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa. If you wish to provide public comment at the meeting, please submit the online public comment request form before 9:30 am on Thursday, August 15, 2024. The public comment request form will open 48 hours prior to the Public Hearing, on August 13, 2024. Should you have questions, concerns, or comments about the rulemaking process, please send an email to epcinfo@epchc.org before August 15, 2024.
